Wat Thai Kusinara Chalermraj is located in
Kushinagar, a holy place where the Buddha entered His final Nirvana. It was
situated in the area between the Sala Grove - where the Nirvana Stupa was
built to commemorate the Buddha’s Great Decease and Makutbandhana Pagoda
- where the Buddha’s body was cremated and His relics were divided by Drona,
a wise Brahamana.

area covers 14 rai, 2 ngan, 80 square wah (5 acres and 85 demeans).
The land’s ownership right was received on
the Maghapuja Day on February 24, 1994 by the Mulnidhi Wat Thai Kusinara
Chalermrajya Society, at Wat Thai Kusinara Mahavihar, from the Indian Land Office for Kusinara
(Padrauna) District.
